WAIPU v. WHANGAREI. VISITORS' FIRST INNINGS WIN. On Saturday afternoon the match betwen a combined local cricket XI. and a visiting team was concluded at the Maunu Road ground. At the time of going to press on Saturday, Whangarei had lost eight wickets for 56 runs in their first batting venture. The score was carried to 65, Ensor making 9 before being bowled by D. H. McKay, and Brydon after hitting one three t was caught by McKay off Murdoch.' McLean carried his bat without scoring. Waipu secured a 33 runs' lead on first innings, and Ensor (49 not out). Burns (46), and Drever (17 not out) enabled Whangarei to declare their second innings closed with 5 wickets down for 124, leaving Waipu with 92 to get to secure a straight out win. The effort resulted in 67 being scored for the loss of seven wickets, when stumps were drawn > Waipu winning the match on the first innings lead of 33 runs.
