UNITED CHRISTIAN MESSAGE.
The Archbishops of Canterbury and York, the Rev. F. B. Meyer (Christ Church, Westminster), the Rev. J. Scott Lidgett (Methodist Church), the Rev. .). H, ,Shakespe,'ir(; (Baptist Church), and the Rev. A. Glittery, as leaders of their denominations, have issued a New Year's message based on the recent appeal of Mr Lloyd George and the Prime Ministers of the selfgoverning dominions, that efforts for bettering of the world should not be hnsfnl merely on material things. The message says the Prime Minister's appeal is the utterance; of st-itesnien who have had experience of the arbitrament of war, The tests of rebuilding of a life of peace are to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousnoss as a means for testing all our actions, social industrial, find international, by the standard of His teaching. "We put before the professing Christian this threefold call: First, to re-dedicate ourselves to the active service of Christ; secondly, in combating the impulse to mere sejfish gain we should test our actions by Christian standards; thirdly, we should unite in prayer, counsel, and action, so that our common Christian citizenship may become ihe foremost
