APPLE EXPORT.

GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS

The Director of Horticulture (Mr f. W. Kirk) has written as follows to Nelson with reference t 0 the Governtreiii guarantee on the export of apples; ''Government, allowance will b , ' ii;;tde as under; Cost of cases, includii.g making and nails, packing, wool, and paper, shed expenses, shippingcharges or company's commission for telling accounting for bill of lading,

export entry, etc., not exceeding 2s i>d per case. In making claims at this end, if any, each item must, be specified. New Zealand charges will be computed from the time the fruit is placed on rail, or at the usual shipping port, and will include wharfagu and rail or steamer freight to the shipping port. Insurance, etc, freight, and all other subsequent charges will be allowed. The Government guarantee (of Id per lb) will cover fruit on consignment to approved destinations. The fruit must be packed in Government standard cases, graded, packed, and branded in accordance with the proposed export regulations (a copy of which will be forwarded later.)

"The varieties approved for export to the Northern Hemisphere under the Government guarantee of Id per lb. net are as follow:—Gravenr;t>'in, Golden Pippin, Worcester Pearrriain, Cox's Orange, Willie Sharp, Ribston Pippin, Jonathan, Reinette dv Canada Adams's Pearmain, Beauty, Delicious, Escopus Spizen-bc-rg, Dunn's Favourite (Munro's), Scarlet Nonpareil, Scarlet Pearmain, London Pippin (Five Crown), Cleou;:tra, Yellow Newtown Pippin, Rome Beauty, Statesman Strumers, and such other varieties as are approved by the Director of Horticulture. Ship■r.i'nts will be mad' , ■■ in March, April and May."
