A journalist at Hull has come across two men who are launching out on an ambitious undertaking. Both are aeroplane pilots—one an Englishman, and the other a New Zealander. The latter is described as being a clever engineer and business man,.who had the organisation of fleet of lorries during the railway strike, and was much impressed by the amount of work done on the roads. "These two men," says the writer, "have determined to use their knowledge and experience in or-

ganising a road transport service in New Zealand, and are now engaged in buying lorries from the Disposal Board for the purpose.''

The Pahiatua "Herald" is informed by Mr J. G. Brechin, who is a member of the Dominion Cheese Committee, that it is the intention of the committee to call together, early in January, representatives of all butter and cheese factories in New Zealand. As is well known, the present arrangement with the Imperial Government expires at the end of next June, and that being so, the committee is of opinion that producers should meet at an early date to consider what is to be done in the matter of disposing of next season's cheese and butter. Meetings arc being held at Auckland, Hamilton, Hawcra, Carterton and Palmerston North, and factories are being notified to this effect.
