PERSONAL
The officers of the Headquarters staff, the Permanent Force, and the New Zealand Staff Corps, assembled in Wellington on Monday night to bid farewell to Major-General Sir Alfred Robin, late General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Military Forces who is proceeding to Samoa to temporarily relieve the Administrator, Colonel R. W. Tate, while the latter is on leave in New Zealand. Major-General Sir Edward Chaytor, the new General Officer Commanding, was present at the gatheringj which was presided over by Briga-dier-General G. S. Richardson, General Officer in Charge of Administration. The evening was spent in recounting reminiscences connected with the war and defence work generally, and the officers testified to the excellent relations which had always existed between themselves and General Robin- As a token of the esteem in which he was held, General Robin was presented with an illuminated address, signed by the officers, together with a large framed photograph of the headquarters, and di-> trict staffs.
Mr Francis Mander, M.P., returned tQ Auckland by the s.s. Xanieri this afternoon. .
