A PERPLEXING MATTER.

In connection with the reparation claims against Germany the Treasury as engaged in computing pension claims and has enlisted the co-opera-tion of overseas officials in the matter.
It is understood that the French pension system will be used as a basis whereon the aggregate amount will 1)6 fixed. The whole question bristles with technical difficulties. Among the points raised is how far, if at all, provision can be made for those whose health later on may entitle them to claim a pension after the total amount of Germany's liability has been fixed.—A. and N.Z. *
