NORTHERN FATALITY.
CHILD KILLED BY LOG.
Word was received by the Whangnrei police to-day that a child named Iri Samuels was killed yesterday in an unusual manner at Matauri Bay. From accounts to hand it appears that the father and mother were engaged in sawing a log, and that Avhen the log was severed one portion rolled down an incline and over the child, who happened to be playing in the danger zone.
