MARRIAGE AMENDMENT. Th e House met yesterday at 2.30 p.m. On the motion of the Hon. J. B. Hine the Marriage Amendment Bill was introduced and read a first time. PUBLIC WORKS STATEMENT. Sir W. Fraser said that the Public Works Statement would be laid on the table on Thursday, and the Mines Statement in the course of a few days. NATIVE TOWNSHIPS. The Native Affairs Committee re--commended that the Native Townships Bill be allowed to proceed with amendments. EDUCATION BILL. The Hon. D. H. Guthrie moved that theHHoves c go into committee on the Education Amendment Bill, the second reading of which was moved pro forma. A lengthy discussion ensued, but th c bill finally passed all stages unamended. The House rose at 1.34 a.m. —Press Assn.
