MUNICIPAL BAND CARNIVAL.

LABOUR DAY FESTIVITIES.

The Municipal Band of Whangarei has in hand a splendid programme for Labour Day (Monday next), and, gives line weather, there will be a most splendid time for all concerned. The young children will be conveyed to Kenaing* ton Park by motor lorries and eaifs from the Triangle. Children's spqxts. schools championships, relay race, and tug-of-war will be of keen interest and commence after luncJi. The Fire Brigade items will be popular, and cycle races, football tournament, etc., provide abundant scope for joyous excitement, Refreshments will be available at the park and hot water will be provided free. Not the least important will be tho music of the band which will create aa atmosphere of gaiety, and be in evid- , once all day beginning with the procession from the Triangle at 10 a.m. There will be a splendid ending to R happy day in the grand benefit concert and pictures at the Lyceum Theatre in the evening. The citizens aro indebted to the flao public spirit shown by the Municipal Band in contributing as they do so often to the town's brightness and entertainment. SURPRISE PACKET DAY. Next Saturday will bring about, under the aegis of the Municipal Band, another of those popular events known as "Surprise Packets," and the town area is likely to be seething with excit,ed crowds anxious to speculate shillings whereby they may obtain valuable return in the shape of prizes.
