The trial opened this morning, when Walter Ashby was before the court on a charge of murder.
The evidence traversed the ground dealt with at the recent inquest, and at the time of going to press a crossexamination was in process,
The accused is represented by Mr Singer, of Auckland, and Mr Guy, of Kaikohe,
