PERSONAL.
Mr J. W. Mitchell, the deputy organiser of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners, 'has been in the district and returned to Auckland to-day. It is pleasing to learn that the borough engineer, Mr J. Darlington Whitmore, after a fortnight's illness, during 'which time he was confined to his bed, is now able to return to his work for a few hours daily. It is understood that Mr Cibb, manager of the Dunedin branch of the bank of New Zealand, has been appointed auditor of the bank vice Mr Litehneld, who will shortly retire on superannuation.—(Press Assn. message). In addition to the names of Justices of the Peace who have just been gazetted, as published yesterday, are those of Messrs M. P. Handforth (Onerahi), A. E. Bisset (Russell), A. D. Clemett (Mangonui), W. T. W. Hall (Hokianga), and A. J. Finch (DargavWe).
