NGUNGURU,

Alex Shoebridge, youngest son of Mr (J. Shoebridge, returned in tone Maimari from England, and arrived ihere with his mother on Saturday. He was away little over 12 months, and part of that time lie spenit in hospital; however, he is looking well now, and says lie had a good time travelling about England and Scotland, and gained much knowledge of the world. Everyone- is glad to see him back again. A welcome social and dance is to be held in his (honour in the public hall, when he will be presented a gold medal, as a souvenir of tflie great war, in which 1 , tlhough not actively engaged, he was there ready to do his bit if required. A royal welcome awaits him, for he is a native of Ngunguru and fcias Spent the whole of his life here.

The ladies of Nigunguru intend to taike t)he opportunity to present Mrs J{. Carpenter (nee Miss Emery) with an eiderdown quilt, as a mark of esteem. During , the year she lias lived 'here she hats taken an active part in social functions and always endeavoured to comfort and cheer the Soldier boys at the front. Mr E. Morey and Mr Blott, after spending a week in. the city, returned in the launch on Saturday. Fine weather prevailed and they had an enjoyable trip. Mr S, Babingiton returned from Wlhiamgarei on Saturday, (Miss S. Ferguson and Miss Kay left ■on Tuesday. Mrs and Mr iLarson, wh.o have been attending the anniversary (meeting of the Salvation Army returned home on Tuesday.
