ELEVEN CLASSES IN AUCKLAND DISTRICT.

LACK OF FUNiDS THE OBSTACLE.

The activities of the Workers' Educational Association during the past year are commented upon in the annual report of the Auckland University College Council. The report states that nine tutorial classes were conducted for a full session, one completed a brief session as arranged, and an additional one was

started in the middle of the year. Of these classes nine were held in the city and suburbs, one in Hamilton, and one in Whangarei. Seven were devoted to economics, one to psychology, one to hygiene, one to chairmanship, and one to a literary and debating course. Two classes were in their fourth year,, by special arrangement; three completed the regulation three-year course; two were in their second year, and four in their first. "-Nothing but lack of funds can check the progress ot this university extension work in the district," the report stated, "and representations -have been made to the Government on the matter." ORGANISER NEEDED. The chairman, Mr T. W r . Leys, re--".erring briefly to the matter, said; —"We sliall have to spend a great deal more money in these workers' educational classes. But we must have an organiser who can see that i this money is properly spent. If i we are to make this work a success . and to extend university education to all classes, we must enlarge our work. And there is plenty of room for it." j
