WAIKIEKIE DAIRY COMPANY.
TO SUPPLY WAIROA,
The adjourned meeting of the Waikiekie Dairy Company was continued on Saturday afternoon. The Wairoa and Maungaturoto delegates were present by invitation, the chairman introduced Mr Cullen, from Maungaturoto, who outlined the same proposals as the previous delegates from that company, except, in addition, that they were prepared to collect the cream from the north road as well as Waikiekie centre. In reply to a question Mr Cullen said the road question was a difficult one. and he did not think it would be possible to collect cream all the year round. The Wairoa delegates outlined their proposals as before, excepting that they were now prepared to collect on the North Road as well as Waikiekie central, and the minimum price would be 3d per lb to the Wairoa factory. A long discussion arose regarding floods and bad roads, but Mr Simpkins assured the meeting that once the cream was on the waggon the responsibility lay with the directors to get it to the factory. It was also found to be necessary to have three sets of cans. The motion previously moved by Messrs F. Cubitt and Jones Rountree was then thrown open for further discussion. Finally the chairman called for a vote on the three issues. The first issue, affirming the desire to supply Maungaturoto, received one vote only. The proposal to supply Whangarei was then put, and the voting was as follows:—In favour of Whangarei: F. Cubitt, C. Steadman, A. Harrison, J. Keay, F. Smith. Against: H Berridge, A. Stephen, John Stephen, A Babe, E. Babe, R. Taylor. The Wairoa issue was then put to the meeting and declared carried by 6 votes to 5, on the same division. A hearty vote of thanks to the chair concluded one ofe the longest fand 'most .important fcneeting- yet held in Waikiekie.
