CHILD'S DEATH ENSUES.
WAIHI, August 18. •A boy named John Duffey, three and a-half years old, son of Mr Edward Duffey, Waihi Eiaist, died in hospital on Saturday evening. He was admitted dn the Bth, inst., sufferingfrom a fractm-ed skull. He ihiad been playing in a paddock near his parents' residence, amd later was found staggering about, crying , , with blood on his face. In answer to a question by his mother, ihe said he (had been lacked by a Worse. Aoi inquest was held yesterday afternoon. Dr. Brown said the cause of death was septic basal mentogitis, following fracture of itihe upper jaw and an extensive fracture of the base of the skull. The coroner (Mr Walnutt) returned a verdict of accidental death. —'Press Assn.
