AUCKLAND EDUCATION BOARD.
At a meeting of the board (held recently the following - matters of local interest were dealt with, ADDITIONAL INSPECTOR. 'Mr J. W. Hardy is notified as an additional inspector of schlools for the Auckland district. SPECIAL ALLOWANCES. Owing to restricted railway service it has been decided to extend to pupils of secondary and technical schools, as a temporary measure, privileges in respect of allowances for conveyance and board Blow provided am tihe case of .'pupils of public primary schools. HUAKUI. The committee's renewed request for an enlargement of school buildings is deferred waiting a reply from the Education Department. HUARAU. The school buildings were reported as over-crJowded and the Department was urged to provide more accommodation. RUAKA<KA. An application for enlargement of the building was not entertained on the ground that the present average of twenty-two was too small. jMiss M. M. McLeod has been appointed in place of Mr F. Murdoch, resigned. WHAKAPARA. The request for permission to remove the school to a new site was approved. * WHANGAiREI HEADS. The matter of the erection of a new school building is stall under review. Tlhere appears to be a deadlock OPOTJTEKE. The inspector recommends the erection of a shed-school building. Mr J. D. McKenzie was asked to report. LIMESTONE ISLAND. Eepadrs for stove-piping, etc, at a cost 'of £ 6 were agreed to. .MiAROMAKU. On the recommendation of iMr J. D. McKenzie and the advisory inspector a grant of £20 was passed to dear and fence playground and ihiorse paddock. . ONIEIRAHI. The school committee made application for a grant of £33 to complete the scheme of beautifying the school grounds. A total of 180 trees and shrubs .have been planted, and the £33 asked for is for stone, gravel, tar,.gate, labour for cleaning, ploughing and roading, and grass seed. Mr J. D. McKenzie deputed to report on the matter. MAUNGATAPERE. 'Miss K. E. Xang is announced as temporary relieving teateftier. PHYSICAL INSTRUCTION. ; | The senior inspector recommended the holding of "Refresher Courses" in physicail -instruction in Te Kuiti, Taumlarunui, Te Awamutu, Pukekohe, Mercer, and Waiuku. The recommendation was adopted.
