WHANGAREI S.M. COURT.
(Before Mr V. 11. Levien.) MOTOR CAR SMASH. At a sitting of the S.M. Court in Whangarei yesterday afternoon, 1). A. McLean was summoned as a driver of a motor car for attempting to drive over a railway crossing when the line was not clear. i'"or the defence it was urged that the coming , train was neither seen nor 'heard, aud that the warning given was nut sufficient. In answer to a question the defendant stated that the estimated cost for repairing the car "was £165; at which the magistrate remarked that defendant had been sufficiently puuished and would be discharged.
