HEALTH FOR THE SOLDIERS.
The military sanatorium on Cashmere Hills, nnc r Christchurch, which has been in course of erection for some months past, will, it is expected, be ready for occupation next week, and that at Waipukurau, Hawke's Bay, by the end of next month. The former will have accommodation for 50 patients at once, and for another 50 later. The Waipukurau institution will be able to accommodate
150. The military tubercular patients now at Cambridge and Featherston will in due course be accommodated at the new institutions. Some of the returned men suffering from tubercular trouble will be allowed to go to their own homes after the medical authorities are assured that the conditions are suitable. These men will first enter a sanatorium and receive a course of educational treatment, in order that they might understand how to promote their own recovery and protect other people from danger of infection. The Defence Department is prepared to supply open-air shelters for the vs c of such men at their own homes.
