FAT STOCK.

Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report:—

Yesterday, at our weekly Wcstlield fat stock market, our yarding of beef numbered 239 head, comprising 140 steers, 98 cows and heifers, ; and oner bull. The entry comprised a big proportion of ordinary quality cattle. Choice and prime ox beef were in short supply, and met Avith keen competition, with an advance of fuliv £2 per head. Choice ox sold to £3 per 1001b; prime ox £2 16s to £2 19s per 1001b; ordinary and rough bcof £2 to £2 14s per 1001b; cow and heifer beef £2 3s to £2 12s per 1001b. Steers ranged in price from £15 7s 6d to £26 12a 6d.

Sheep were penned in increased numbers, the major portion being un finished. Prime mutton was scarce. The demand was keen throughout for all classes, and last week's values were sustained. Heavy prime wethers made from £2 4s 6d to £2 6s 9d (no extra heavy prime wethers came forward); medium to heavy prime wethers £1 19s to £2 3s; lighter prime wethers, £1 15s to £1 18s; unfinished wethers £1 7s 6d to £1 14s 6d. Best heavy ewes made from £1 l§s to £1 17-3 6d (no extra good ewes offered); good ewes £1 12 to £1 15s; lighter ewes, £1 8s to £1 lis; other ewes 8s 6d to £1 3s. 1702 sold. Lambs were scanty and sold well. Best heavy prime realised from £1 lis to £1 15s (a few extra special lambs made from £2 2s to £2 13s); lighter £1 5s to £1 9s; others 17s to £1 3s. Fat and young calves were penned in large numbers and competition was keen at last week's prices. Runners made from £7 7s to £12; heavy vealers £4 10s to £5 15s; medium £3 4s to £4 ss. light, £2 4s to £3 3s; small and fresh-dropped 5s to £2. 110 sold. There was less than an average yarding of pigs, which sold freely at prices equal to last week's high quotations. Large choppers and heavy baconers made from £7 5s to £8 15s; medium baconers, £6 12s to £7 4s; light baconers £6 to £6 lis; large porkers, £4 4s to £5 18s, medium £3 7s 6d to £3 18s; small porkers £2 12s to £3 ss; small weancrs £1 Is to £1 12s.
