THE MOTUIHI MYSTERY.

WAS THERE A PATIENT?

WHO KNOWS THE TRUTH?

WELLINGTON, Dece. 9. The mystery surrounding Dr. Endletsberger's visit to Rotorua is still causing considerable interest, and it is almost amusing to see how little of the real truth can be obtained. Mr Jennings, M.P. for Taumaranui, made an attempt on Saturday to get some information from the Minister of Defence. Sir James-.Alien: The facts I gave in the House previously, so far as I stil know t>hem, are absolutely correct. Mr Young: Then Dr. Endletsberger is a liar? Sir James Allen: I don't know who is a liar. Somebody seems to be pulling somebody's leg. I don't know how far Dr. Endletberger's statement is correct, but, as far as I know, Dr. Endletsberger went to Rotorua to attend Dr. Rayner's wife. I know General Henderson was consulted, and he said, as an armistice had been declared, he saw no reason why permission should be withheld.

I.)-. Pomare explained that he was rii.-ig up by Dr. Rayner, who asked permission for Dr. Endletsberger to attend his wife at Rotorua,

Tiie Minister added: As we have allowed Germans to come off the island to be treated, it was only just that we should try to save the life of a British ciiizon's wife, even by using a German doctor.

Mr Poole: They are denying it

Dr. Pomare: Well, some people are striving to make capital out of it. Anyway, 1 would do the same thing again to save a British life. (Hear, hear.)
