CRICKET.
MARSDEN v. WHANGAREI AND HIGH SCHOOL.
A fresh start, after the epidemic, was made at cricket on Saturday last, wiien Marsden Cricket Club met a mixed team of the Whangarei and High School Cricket Clubs. Good work had been put in on the pitch (in the High School ground), which was in practically perfect order, but the long grass in the out-field rather impeded the ball when the "'off-drive" or "on-cut" were executed. A spell of the old "Whiteness North" weather contributed to what was unanimously voted a most enjoyable afternoon. Marsden won the toss and batted first and the scores, which resulted in a win for the High SchoolWhangarei XI. by an innings and 1 5 runs, were as follows, the outstanding features being the Lamb Bros.' part- ! nership, which resulted in 58 being i raided for the first wicket and a total of 70 runs to the two batsmen: — MARSDEN.—First Innings.
