AGREEMENT REACHED
Sir F. Bell reported an agreement with the Managers of the House regarding the amendments made in the War Legislation Amendment Bill. The Council's Managers had agreed to abandon the amendment permitting soldiers and their dependents to consult themselves out of future protection regarding tenancy. Agreements were also reached, in an an amendment to the Reformatory Institutions Amendment Bill, whereby the Minister of Justice retains the power to remove a prisoner to reformatory institutions, but only where the sentence has less than two years to run. LOCAL BILLS. The following Local Bills were passed through all stages:—lnvercargill Borough Rate Empowering, New Plymouth Harbour Board and Borough Council Exchange, Auckland Institute and Museum Site Empowering and Exchange, Harbour and Borough Council Empowering, Uawa County, and Napier Harbour Board Enabling Bills.
