IN THE HOSPITALS

Reports from the Whangarei hospitals to-day are very satisfactory. ■ Xo death;; have occurred in any of the institutions and the number of serious cases is being brought down to a minimum: in fact, the hospital returns combined with general information and the opinion of medical men who are lighting the disease go to show that the epidemic has been conquered in town. Second Avenue hospital has I'J patients, including one admission and one serious case. Two patients were discharged this morning. St. Joseph's had two admission* and has two serious cases, but all the remainder are doing as well as can be expected. At the main hospital there have been no deaths and no discharges. There has been one admission, and one serious case is reported, but the rest are doing well.
