WORST SINCE LUSITANIA.

(Received 5.5 p.m.)

LONDON, Oct. 12

The attack on the Leinster was extremely determined. She nar- | rowly escaped torpedoing on Monday. Finally the Germans used three torpedoes, though the vessel was only a fragile Cross-Channel packet. The newspapers are of opinion that this is the most shocking sea crime since the Lusitania, and that this latest infamy disqualifies the .Maximilian Government from conducting further negotiations. Latest information shows that 150 men and women were aboard the Leinster. Fifteen have been landed and several have died since.—A. and N.Z. and Reuter.
