MARINE TRAGEDY.
CRUISER AND STEAMER COLLIDE.
NUMEROUS CASUALTIES.

LONDON, Oct. 11. The Admiralty reports at 11 a.m.: "On the Gth inst. the armed mercantile cruiser Otranto came into collision with the steamship Kashmir, both carrying American troops. The weather was very bad. The two ships drifted apart and soon lost sight of each other. The destroyer Mounsey was summoned by wireless and by skilful handling took off 27 officers and 239 of the crew, 30 United States military ratings, and 30 French sailors, and landed them at a northern Irish port. The Otranto drifted ashore at Islay Island and became a total wreck. Sixteen survivors were picked up at Islay. It is feared that the total of drowned was as follows:—33s military rank ratings and 11 officers and 85 of the crew. . The Kashmir landed her troops at a Scottish port.
