IRISH OBSTINACY.
VERY POOR RECRUITING
COMPULSION MAY BE NECESSARY. (Received 7.45 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 1. Irish recruiting returns show that only 7900 have volunteered, whereas Lord French demanded 50,000 by the 15th October. It is reported that the Irish Recruiting Council does not intend to recommend any extension of time limit.—A. and N.Z.
