STOCK SALES. The North Auckland Farmers' Cooperative Ltd., Whangarei Branch, report for week ending , 30th September, 1918:— During the week we have conducted sales at Maungakaramea, Towai, Whangarei, and Kamo; the aggregate yarding being 3273 cattle. At the Kamo yards, owing to want of room, we were unable to pen over 200 grown steers. Buyers were present from the Waikato, Hauraki Plains, and Waiuku, and approximately 2000 head were bought for moving South. Competition was keen throughout, particularly for 2h years and older steers. There still continues a keen demand for beef and mutton, the supplies being very limited. Younger stock is being enquired for more and store wethers and hoggets are wanted. We quote the following prices:—Fat bullocks, prime quality, £18; ditto, medium quality, £16 10/ to £17 10/; fat cows, prime quality, £14 to £16 10/; fat cows, medium quality, £11 10/ to £13; 3 1 and 4 year bullocks, fresh conditions, £12 to £13 15/; fresh conditioned Jersey cross sold well); 3-year bullocks, fresh conditioned, £12 to £12 107; 3h and 4-year ditto, low conditioned and bad colours, £9 5/ to £10 10/; 24 year to 3-year steers, £10 to £11 5/ (competition good); 2 year steers, good colours, £8 10/ to £9 10/; 2-year steers, ordinary, £7 10/ to £8 5/; yearling' to 18-months steers, good colours, £5 10/ to £7; empty cows, fresh conditioned, up to £9 10/, according to condition; yearling heifers, good colours and well bred up to £5 10/; 1| to 2-year heifers, ditto, £6 10/ to £7 10/ (fair competition); dairy cows, best, to £15 (good competition but backward cows were slack); 3year heifers in calf, close to profit, to £16 according to quality; 2-year bulls (dairy), to £18 18/.
