TWO MILES DEEP
ON EIGHT-MILE FRONT.
{Received 8.45 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 30. The British have captured the fenorthern suburbs of Cambrai. V' Field-Marshal Haig has smashed the Hindenburg Line to a depth of two miles on a front of eight miles. The British and Australians, in the ' Sace-of the heaviest fighting, advanced in the neighbourhood of Connelieu and took 4000 prisoners.—A. and N.Z.
