PERSONAL.

Private L. S. Wililams who has been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for gallantry in the Messines battle, is the fifth son of Mr T. R, Wil liams, of Russell, and was born in Eus sell twenty-four years ago, and educated at the Russell Public School. He left with the 17th Reinforcements, and was at that time a sergeant of territorials. He is very popular, a good sport, a first-class shot, and a man of fine physique. Mr Williams has two other sons serving the Empire, viz., Private Horace Williams who went away with the 4th Reinforcements, saw considerable active service at Gallipoli, and is now owing to a breakdown m health an orderly at Brockenhurst Hospital, England, and Lauce-Corpl. Bert Williams who is serving in the Mounteds in the Egyptian campaign, as a member of the 7th Reinforcements.
