A DISLOYAL REGIMENT.

ORIGINATES REVERSE.

AGITATORS AT WORK,

(Australian and N.Z. etc. and Reuter.) (Press Assn.—Reed. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 21. A wireless Russian official message

6ays: "Lively artillerying prevails in the direction of Vilna. The enemy persistently attacked twenty miles south of Brody. At first all the attacks were repulsed, but one Russian regiment between Batybv and Manajov left the trenches and voluntarily retired. As a result the neighbouring units were forced to retire, also giving the enemy an opportunity to develop his success. Our failure was largely due to the influence of extremists. Several detachments, on being ordered to support their com. rades, held meetings and discussed the advisability of obeying the order. Some refused to obey, and the efforts of the commanders <and committees were fruitless. The Austro-Ger. mans occupied portion of our first line eastward of ©rzezany, also at Blundniki, westward of Halicz. The enemy launched an offensive on the 17th and captured the heights southward of Novica, 'but our cavalry and infantry drove back the enemy and restored the position."

A.wireless German message states: "la the offensive between the Sereth and Strypa we are closely pursuing the retreating enemy."
