VOLUNTEERING ABANDONED,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association)
WELLINGTON, July 3
Sir James Allen states that it ha,3 been decided definitely that there shall be no further voluntary enlistnient3, either of reservists in the First or Second Division. The only voluntary recruits accepted will be young men who reach the age of twenty years after this date, and for whom special provision is made in the Act.
The decision now reached meane that all men of the Second Division will be called up solely through the medium of the ballot.
The Defence Minister now estimates that the First Division will last through July and August, but will not provide the whole of the September draft. He thinks, however, that a revision of men previously rejected as medically unfit will supply one and t perhaps two reinforcement draft a, so that the first-class of the Second Division will probably be drawn in October or .November at the latest.
