THE BAND FETE.

The lady workers,; in connection vitli the Band Fete met yesterday afternoon in Mr G. L. A. Hutt's office and discussed their share of the pro. •sramrae. The work was broken up into sections to facilitate organisation. Mrs llalliday will be in •jharge of the Coronation ceremonies, Mrs Bray will look after the lollie stall, Mrs Adams takes the tea room aiid Mrs Wrigley will look after the soft drinks and ice creams and it is expected that Miss Ferguson and Miss Drummond will take a flower stall. A lady will also be in charge of a fortune-telling tent, where those desiring a peep into the mystic future may find out what the fates hold in store. The programme for the sports has been completed and it is a lengthy and varied one. Full particulars will appear in to-morrow's is;ue. The events include compe. titions for the best decorated motor car, motor cycle, buggy, sulky, tradesman's cart, horse and rider.. child's pony, perambulator, go-cart, dell's pram, child's tricyle, live pet,, teams of children, etc. Prizes will also be given for the best fancy costume, national dress (Central Powers barred) nnd other features. The sporty programme includes various races for boys of all ages; obstacle races, blindfold, wheel-barrow and three-legged races, bun.eating compettitions, tugs of war for young and old and numerous other contests, for men, women and children. There is also the bnby show, which promises I , ) be a great attraction. It must not be forgotten that there will also be the side shows and countless attractions to keep the gathering bright and cheerful winding up with a fine onlf>rtr>niment in the evening. No entrruico will be charged for any events except tugs of war and pushing the pole.

Apart from the sport; the carnival nueen content is creating great interest T.ifkPts are selling like hot

cukes and we hope to-morrow to give the position of the voting. The

coronation ceremony to be a very pretty spectacle and it will be given in full detail if possible.
