THE EIGHTIETH'S PARADE.
GREAT INTEREST IN AUCKLAND.
The citizens of Auckland are taking a keen, interest, in the forthcoming parade of the Eighteenth Reinforcements. The Trotting Club's meeting and various athletic fixtures have been postponed and a warm welcome is assured the soldiers. The during the parade will be enlivened by the presence of the Trumpet rand, an organisation well known in Wellington. The Mayor telegraphed to the Jlinixtcr for Railways suggesting that, the members of , the band b-- •.-ivp.n passe;: from Wellington to Auckland for t'io occasion. He received a telegram from the Minister for Defence j'Ct-Jerday to the effect that the latter had approved of the Defence Department paying the railway fares of the Trumpet Band to Auckland.
Guard duty will be undertaken in connection with Saturday's parade and entertainmonf by detachments of Maori troops, Iloynl Now Zealand Artillery, and Mount Eden Guard.
