BAND FETE.
ORGANISATION IN FULL SWING.
The School Carnival Queen election contest, which is being held in icnnecton \yith the Municipal Band Floral Fete, has now been success, fully launched. Four queens have been nominated and keen interest i≤ being shown. The names of the candidates are as follows: — Convent School. —Mimi de Tourret. Whangarei School. —Miily Jones, Evolyn Butcher. Hora Hora School Gertrude Matheson. Mr Parker reports that he addressed the children at the Convent and there was a big demand at once for tickets. In fact he had to make a second trip with a further supply. He will be pleased to meet parents, friends and children and explain what it is necessary to be done. Returns will bo published every day showing the position: o£ the queens bo that supporters will know what effort they have to make to secure a victory. If the columns of the "Advocate" are watched the progress of the contest can be followed.
This afternoon the ladies are hold, ing a meeting to get in hn'.!;l their oart of the work. All ■ committees are warming up to their U'.sks and success is assured
