LIBERAL FRIENDS.
SHOCKED BY HIS VIGOUR
PEOPLE MUST GIVE CONFIDENCE
(Press Assn.—Reed. 8.15 p.m.)
LONDON, May 7.
Mr Lloyd George, speaking at Conway, said the number of men equipping our navy with munitions was almost equal to the number engaged in France making munitions for the French army. Replying to some of his .best Liberal friends, whom his fervour in prosecuting the war had somewhat shocked, Mr Lloyd George emphasised the fact that a badly conducted war meant bad. peace, which was no peace. In conducting a war a Government should not only be resolved but appear resolute and ready to face the horrors of war. If they had confidence in their leaders'the 'nation's spirit would be a propell.aiit to its armies. * It was therefore important, that whatever happened the people should have confidence in Government doing its best in its firmest and most resolute manner to conduct the war.
