TRENTHAM INQUIRY.
Evidence given before the Trentham Camp Commission this morningdealt mainly -with matters relating to stores and requisitions and for blankets. One of. the witnesses, Robert Williams, accountant in the Defence Stores, stated that the nondelivery of blankets on May 29 was due to an error on the part of the storeman who believed there were sufficient blankets in the camp at the time. No investigation ' had been made of the statement that the supplies in excess of requirements had been sent to the camp.
His Honour: Is there a periodical audit of supplies to see What surplus- there should be.
Witness: Not that lam aware of. His Honour: Would not such an audit be desirable.
Witness: "Yes, I think so." In reply to further questions witness said the boot manufacturers were now keeping pace with all orders.
