ADMIRALTY PRECAUTIONS.
EVERYTHING POSSIBLE DONE.
(Press Assn.—Reed. 3.45 p.m.)
LONDON, July 17
Lord Mersey declined to discuss the evidence concerning the Admiralty's precautious, but it is plain that the Admiralty devoted anxious care and thought to the submarine peril and collected all information likely to affect the Lusilania's voyage and fully advised Captain Turner. The latter, in seme respects., had not followed the advice, hut it was doubtful if the vessel would otherwise have reached Liverpool. The Admiralty '3 advice did not deprive him of the right to use his skill and judgment in a difficult situation. His omission to follow the advice was not attributable to negligence. Everything was done to get oat the boats. Complaints on this point and a'so the .allegation that-the boats were leaky, were ill-founded.
Lord Mersey added: The Lusitama carried a number of cases of cartridges, which were shown on the maniShe was not violating any
tests
American law
