ALLEGED SICKNESS ON MAHENO
Information was received in Wellington yesterday that a statement had been published in a Christchurch paper to the effect that a wireless message had been received from the hospital ship that a number of the doctors and nurses had been attacked by cerebro-spinal meningitis and that the ship must
come back,
The Minister of Defence on being questioned said he had been in communication with the hospital ship and had received the assurance "that all were well on board, and the vessel was proceeding on its journey. It. was therefore evident the report telegraphed to Christchurch was a canard without the slightest justifi-
cation
