ONERAHI TOWN BOARD.

j The monthly meeting oi" the Onei rahi Town Board Commissioners was I held at 7.30 p.m. on Monday, May 10, in the Board's meeting room, Onerahi. Present: Comrs.W. J. Carr (chairman), H. A. Going-, E. X. Ormiston, F. D. H. Ulrieh, aiid J. McKinnou, town clerk. OUR BOYS AT THE FRONT. It was unanimously resolved that this Board place on record its deep sense of the gallant conduct displayed by the New Zealand soldiers at their first serious engagement in the great European war, and deeply deplore the sorrow occasioned to relatives in th e Dominion by casualties. To those involved the Board tenders its deepest sympathy and trusts the war will terminate speedily and satisfactory and peace be restored. SOLE.MS ROADS. Mr J. Solem wrote asking the Board to provide an outlet to his property, as he was without a road. It was resolved to inform him that the Board regrets it is unable for the want of funds to grant the application. WATSON'S ROAD. The Board's engineer reported that it would require an expenditure uf £20 to make Watson's Road suitable for sledge traffic, but an expenditure of .£ o would do something towards improving the road for ordinary traffic. On the motion of Comr. Ormiston, seconded by the chairman, it was resolved to' defer letting th e work until the engineer and commissioners inspect the road along,with other works. BEACH ROAD. The engineer recommended that some temporary works be done to Beach Road between the railway gate and the jetty. It was agreed on the motion of Conirs. Ormiston and Going that such works be undertaken, substituting 9 inch pipe culverts for 6 inch drain pipes. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Comr. Going, it was resolved that the engineer be instructed to carry out works on Beach Road from Carr * s Corner to Steadman's gate in the terms of his recommendations. SCOTT'S ROAD. It was agreed on the motion of Comr. Ulrieh, seconded by Comr. Going, that.Mr Cockburn be written to requesting him to clear ti-tree for a width of half a chain from his road frontage. That Mr Caitcheon's application for planks, and for permission to put in pipe culverts free of costs, be held over until the engineer reports on such matters. BUILDING BY-LAWS. It was agreed to consider the question of framing building regulations with a view of preventing slums through buildings being erected without regard to yardage space or street frontage. ' TOWN HALL PLANS. Messrs Moiiand and Morran submitted amended plans of proposed Town Hall. It was agreed to refer the sfinie back to the architects with i request that the building must provide a main floor of not less than 60 x 35 feet. TOWN HALL LOAN. The town clerk announced he had received the debentures from the Public Trust Office for the whole of the loan asked for. It was resolved to push on with the building with all speed as soon as the plans were finally aproved. WANDERING CATTLE. On the motion of Comr. Ormiston, j seconded by the chairman, it was resolved that on and after January 1, 191 C, the Board intend to take legal action against persons permitting cattle or horses at large on the public streets within the town district area!

PAYMENTS. Accounts amounting to £IG9 IDs were passed for payment.
