Mr 11. If. Jackson, chief mechanical engineer of the locomotive department, is on an official .visit to this district. W. Bro. J. E. Holmes, P.M., left Whangarei to-day to attend the annual meeting of the Grand Lodge of Freemasons at Wellington. W. Bro. >■". McKendie, P.M., will also- attend. The friends of Mrs A. Carter, of Whangarei, will be glad to know that she is now recovering from her illness. Mrs Carter has been in a private hospital in Auckland for the past six weeks. Mr Mcßean, inspector of the Baa.k of N.Z., who has been on a visit to the northern brandies of the institution, passed through Whangarei to-day on his way to Auckland, lie was accompanied by his sister, Miss Mcßean. Mr Ivan Motion, who topped the poll at the recent municipal elections at Pukekohe, arrived in Wkulygarei this morning, on a week's shooting. He was accompanied by Mr- James Keith, of Pokeno, whose ,'enial face is well known to cricketers in this district.,
