If a report as published in the "Figaro" (Paris) is correct, Austria aud Italy are actually at war, a body of the former's troops having crossed the Italian frontier and attacked a regiment (Italian sharp-shooters). It is stated that there were heavy losses, on both sides and that the Austrians were driven back into their own territory. A Turkish torpedo boat attaekfd a British transport with troops aboard in the Aegean Sea, fired three torpedoes which all missed, and was then chased ashore on to the Chios Island coast and destroyed. An unconfirmed report says that 100 of the troops on the transport were drowned, though how this happened is not mentioned. An inquiry has been opened into the sinking of the Dutch vessel Katwyk by the Germans. Indignation over the matter is becoming very intense in Holland, whose newspapers speak of.the incident as an act of war giving Holland the right to draw the sword. An assault made on an important Turkish advance post in Arabia by British-Indian troops ended in complete success. , The Turks eventually fled, leaving 2000 of their troops, tents, stores and ammunition in the hands of the attackers. Portion of the Anatolian coast was bombanded on Thursday by Russian Black Sea destroyers, which exchanged fire with the Zumgnldak batteries and sank four steamers ami several sailers.
