ARRESTED AT FORT TAKAPUNA.
KAIPARA RESIDENT'S EXPERIENCE. One down-river resident at least has reason to believe that the troops manning the Takapuna torts are fully versed in their duty (says the "North Auckland Times"), for he went through the ordeal of being placed under military arrest for I rambling onto the fort property ! without authority. He had not, as a matter of fact, any idea that he was on forbidden ground until he was suddenly accosted by a sentry, and, after a short parley, was marched before a sergt.-major. who politely but firmly asked him to submit to the ordeal of beingsearched. He submitted without protest, and was then taken before the 0.C., who made a few enquiries and-had a declaration, with a detailed description subjoined, signed by the prisoner. Then came a demand for the names of two residents of Auckland to whom the military might refer for indentification. This was also satisfactorily arranged, and the Northern Wairoa visitor was conducted out of the fort by the shortest route. Subsequent investigations showed that the military had interviewed the two men mentioned by the prisoner as being able to identify him. '
