The war news continues to absorb
the entire interest of all communities in India. The whole country is engaged in furthering schemes of every kind for assisting ultimate victory. Practically every English woman'in India is working for tbe comfort'of the troops. The daily telegrams of victories or reverses are received throughout the country with a quiet and supreme confidence in the result of the struggle. ' - the ■ native army, continues in an extraordinary manner. Th e fighting races' martial instincts have been whetted by the accounts of the Indian feats at the front, and in consequence such a number of applications have been received that the Commander-in-Chief obliged to forbid officers forwarding requests for active service. ' ' ~
