GENERAL AUCTION PRICES. Mr J. Jones, auctioneer, Victoria ;ind Lome Streets, Auckland, reports: Business on the local market this week (ended November 21) has been fairly busy, and a large volume of business has been done. .The grain market is very firm, and all lines have firmed considerably since last report. in the course of a few weeks som-2 lines will be almost unprocurable, unless at extreme rates. Poultry came forward for Saturday's sale in very large supply, and the market was steady for good birds. High cost of grain, also the majority of hens having finished laying, account for so heavy a supply of birds. Roosters are in strong demand. For new potatoes the , market is steady. Poultry (1850 penned): Hens, prime, l/ll to 2/3; good, 1/9 to 2/; ordinary, 1/6 to 1/8; roosters, prime, up-to 5/5; good, \i/i) to .4/6; cockerels, 1/G to 2/5; chickens, 3d to 9d
