(Press Assn.—Reed. 12.5 a.m.) PRETORIA, November 23. It is ofii dully stated that the forces are hotly pursuing De Wet. The latter crossed the Vet River and headed towards Boshof. He then divided iiis commando, and himself with twenty-five men doubled bac'.c and attempted to cross into the Transvaal, but was driven back. . . A thousand of De Wet's followers, after hearing the amnesty proclamation at Groolhock abandoned their arms and are now-sur-rendering jn Latches. Several ol her batches were captured, including sixty near Senekal, foi\y at Schaabkraal, thirty at Middlefontein and thirty near Harrismilh. ' . De Wet's band pillaged Winbnrg, but General Botha's advance was so unexpected that the rebels were obliged to abandon much booty. - The inhabitants declared that De Wet appeared to be half demented, and threatened to burn down the town. (Received 9 a.m.) PRETORIA, "November 23. De Wet. with six others, crossed the '• ;ial River on Sunday night after tho remnants of his commando had been beaten back. Commandant Dutoil and Field Cornet Hoffman, in a motor car, overtook the fugitives near Leeuwdoorn. One of De Wet's adjutants surrendered. The other.-- continued their flight, firing revolvers as they scattered across the veldt. Commandant Dutoil's party wounded and captured Mentz, De Wet's s»ii-in-law. The remainder escaped. It is reported that two of De Wet's sons were wounded and surrendered. JOHANNESBURG, November 23. Railway communication with Johannesburg has been restored.
