SEASON OPENS TO-NIGHT
**'-" In the Queen's Theatre to-night the notable Kennedy Company will commence a three-night musical entertainment season. Speaking of the appearance of this versatile company in Palmerston North; an exchange says: That "music hath charms" was brilliantly demonstrated' last evening, by the "Kennedys" in the Town Hall. The audience Avas fairly captured by the performance of these talented artistes and gave expression to their admiration by repeated demands for encores. Miss Rose Fitzgerald was an especial favourite, her interpretations being greeted Avith very evident satisfaction. Miss D. Grace has a rich soprano voice which she controls in a masterly manner. After an..efficient rendering of the' aria (a) "Preghiera di Tosca" (b) "Love's Echo," hy Puccini and»Newton. respectiA r ely, and in response to the outcry for an encore, Miss Grace sang "Maggie," which touched the right chord and gave pleasure to the audience. The individual and collective playing of the Kennedys was a fine musical exhibition deserving of the warm appreciation accorded them. The Kennedys have a cultured pianist in Madame Bertha Kennedy.
