EXPEDIT T ONARY FORCE.

WELLINGTON, Sept. 22

There is every likelihood of the troops sailing at an early date. A brigade of artillery arri\ r ed from the Palmerston North camp this afternoon, and there are many other signs of activity on the part of the expeditionary force.

The troopships, which have been at anchor for some time are now at the wharves taking in supplies—a further sign of the approaching date of departure.

Full arrangements have been made here for a public demonstration of farewell when the date of sailing is

announced.

WIRELESS PLANT SEIZED

i A wireless plant was seized by the /police at No. 82 Taranaki- Street on /Saturday night.

A German named Hugo SeAveld was arrested in connection with the find.

On Saturday the police were informed that the purchase of a plant had been made in the city and the arrest followed. The plant is only a small one, but it is alleged is capable of intercepting and sending messages. Seweld, who is naturalised, was charged before Mr D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., to-day with "establishing a plant capable of transmitting or receiving wireless telegraphic signals without first obtaining the consent of the Gov-ernor-in-Council." On the application of the police he was remanded until the 29th inst. GERMANS INTERNED. f. The total number of Germans at present held as prisoners of war on Somes Jsland is aproximately 112. Another

six are to be sent over this v/eek. The first batch which went OA'er numbered 115, aud although a fairly large number has been released on .parole, and to report themselves once every twenty-four hours to the police their places have been taken by other Ger-

mans sent in from different parts of the Dominion.
