(Press Assn. —Reed. .10.]5 a.m.)
. r ' ■■. LONDON, Sept. 16. Mr Louis Mack, the Antwerp correspondent of the "Evening News," describes the horrors at Aerschot. In the Cathedral, on the high altar, many empty wine and beer bottles were placed. The offertory box was stolen and replaced by a beer bottle. Bottles and filth were everywhere. The Madonna's head was cut off and the large crucifix was burnt with the altar brocades. Pictures were slashed and the frames chopped. A dead pig was on one side of the chapel. All this was the work of drunken soldiers. Street after street in Aerschot was destroyed and left in blackened ruins. , 'At the chemists' shops the Germans mixed all the , drugs together. •They shot the burgomaster's two children. A German colonel was shot in the burgomaster's servants' room from outside the building. It was supposed that this was done by one of the girls' sweethearts. The girl and her swain were instantly executed.
