HOME RULE.

DEADLOCK ON AMENDING BILL.

AUDIENCE WITH KING

QUESTION OF DISTRIBUTION

OF ARMS

Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright,

LONDON, May 17

A deadlock is reported to have occurred in connection with the amending Home Rule Bill.

Mr Lloyd-George, who is the principal mouthpiece between the Cabinet and the Nationalists, had an audience with the King which lasted nearly an hour.

The ''Chronicle" states that a number of Down and Antrim' farmers were not averse to their sons joining Sir Edward Carson's volunteers with the object of drilling, but were startled on learning that rifles and ammunition are about to be individually distributed. The proposed recipients are anxiously inquiring as to the legality of receiving arms.
