Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., have to advise having held their usual weekly fat stock sale at Westfield on Wednesday, the 13th inst.
Beef: Large yarding. Prices were 15/- to 20/- per head lower than last week. Choice pens of extra prime ox sold at equal to 30/- per lOOlbs; ordinary quality ox, 28/- to 29/-; unfinished and light, 26/-; cow and heifer beef made equal to 25/- to 27/----per lOOlbs.'
Veal: A large yarding, which sold at late rates. Heavy runners made up to £5 5/-; heavy suckers, £2 10/- to £3 3/-; light suckers, 34/----to 46/-; others,' 6/- to 23/-.
Mutton: A very large yarding, and prices dropped about 4/- per head, compared with last week's rates. Extra heavy prime wethers fetched 20/6 to 29/6; medium weight, 24/----to 26/-; light and unfinished, 19/6 to 23/3; extra heavy ewes, up to 2C/6; heavy do., 22/- to 24/-; light and unfinished, 14/- to 17/-. Lamb: A fair yarding. Prices were 2/- to 3/- per head lower. Heavy woodly made up to 21/-; medium, 10/- to 19/-; stores, 12/6 to 14/-. Pork: A moderate yarding, which sold at late rates. Choppers made up to £3,6/-; baconers, £2 12/- to £ 3; ; porkers, 29/- to 46/-. HIDES, SKINS, ETC. Messrs Dalgety and Company Ltd., report having held their weekly sale of hides, skins, tallow, etc., on Tuesday, the 12th May, 1914, When a large catalogue of all lines was offered and cleared at satisfactory prices. Hides: Market firm at late rates, the recent drop in the price per lb being amply balanced by the increase in weight, owing to the heavier condition of the hides. Butchers' hides, well flayed and conditioned, stout to medium, B|d to Bid; light; 8d to B|d; cow, well flayed and conditioned, to BJd; wet conditioned ,7ld to 8d; dirty, scored or sloppy hides, at lower rates; damaged and cut, 5Hd to. 7£d; stags, 4§d to 6£d; kip, 7d to 8d; calf, best lines, IOd; good, 7ld to 9d; cut, damaged and meaty, 6d to 7d. Sheepskins: Market firm with keen competition. Dry woolly skins, 5/to ,7/6; medium, 3/- to 5/-; small, 1/6 to 3/-; dry pelts, 1/- to 2/-, "according to length of wool; skins with weevil eaten and weather stained pelts at lower rates; Butchers' salted skins, best lines, to 5/6, seconds, 3/6 t0.4/6; lambs' pelts, 1/- to 2/-. Tallow: Market easier. Best in shipment casks, 28/-; in 4cwt casks, '25/- to 27/6; seconds, 21/- to 24/-; tins, 18/- to 23/-, according to ity.Rough Fat: Ud to 2d. Cowtails: 1/8 per dozen. Horsehair: Tail, 1/6 to l/10d; mixed, 1/3 to 1/5; mane, 9dto 1/-. ■Bones: Good dry, £5 per ton. Wool: In bags and dumps selling freely, competition being good. Bright crossbred to 9d; coarse and dingy, 7d to 8d; bellies and pieces, 5d to 7d; locks and stained pieces, 3d to 4d; lambs, 7d to 9d; crutchings, 5d to 6d.
